As reported in the Newark Advocate (12/19/09), Licking County Department of Job and Family Services Director John Fisher has been recognized as the Ohio Job and Family Services Directors' Association Director of the Year.

The state agency annually recognizes a county director who, through dedicated efforts throughout the span of their career, exemplifies the professional qualities and achievements of an outstanding agency director.

Fisher received numerous nominations from his peers, including county directors throughout the state, community organizations, county commissioners and staff. He has worked for Licking County 21 years, including 13 years as assistant director. He began as director in 2001.

He provided his services to the association to assist other county agencies and worked toward the improvement of the job and family service system. He also worked on fiscal issues and negotiated many improvements in proposed state policies.

As a former president of OJFSDA, he appointed a special committee to study job and family services structures in other states and begin developing alternatives for modernizing and streamlining Ohio's system.

Licking County Chamber's Workenomics Committee is proud and honored to have John Fisher serve as the Workenomics Chairman and look forward to a successful 2010!
